Growing Into You!â„¢: Puberty
Join us for an interactive workshop that will help your family have shame-free talks about bodies and puberty.
Through a mix of engaging activities, videos, and fun games- guided by trained educators- families of tweens ages 8-12, of all gender identities, will learn about the many changes that happen to tweens and teens during puberty. Our facilitators use a combination of community-based activities, engaging the entire group of families together, as well as youth/parent activities that allow each individual family to learn and connect more comfortably. Through this approach, our Growing Into You!â„¢ family-style, gender-inclusive workshops reinforce the power of family and community support systems to disrupt taboos, so young people feel affirmed and supported along their growing up journey.
Participants learn:
💡 body basics related to puberty (for all bodies and gender identities)
💡 correct anatomical terms and functions (for all genitals and reproductive/internal anatomy)
💡 the physical and emotional changes that can occur
💡 how to take care of bodies during puberty
💡 fun ways to keep the puberty talks open at home
💡 answers to their many amazing curiosities
Related aspects such as defining gender, sex, consent, and masturbation often come up during each session, guided by participant questions, and help families discuss these topics with greater ease and openness.
At least one tween and one parent/caregiver must be present to participate. Registration cost is $40 USD per family. As a gift for attending, families receive access to a digital guide covering puberty talking points, genital anatomy, and resources to continue the conversations.
